Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
HORTON, ANNIE ALICE "ANNE" - It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Annie Alice "Anne" Horton, of St. Peter’s, on Thursday, November 11th, 2021 at the Richmond Villa, with her loving family by her side. Born in Margaree Harbour on June 13, 1932, she was one of five children born to the late Henrietta "Etta" and Leonard MacLennan.
Anne was a beloved St. Peter’s United Church member. She could always be found volunteering her time in the kitchen for the United Church Christmas suppers. She was also a member of the St. Peter’s Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
During her working years, Anne spent time as a cook at numerous restaurants and motels including the Shieling Motel, Wandlyn, and St. Peter’s Tavern. In the community, Anne was well known for her baking. She would sell her breads and goodies to the local stores. We were told that the working crowd held off on their breaks until Anne’s homemade goodies arrived.
Anne was happiest when her family and friends were around. She loved entertaining and heading to the dances at the Caledonia with George by her side. She helped anyone in need and was a great friend and neighbour to many.
Anne is survived by her loving husband George McInnis of 22 years; her sons Palmer (Linda) and Glenn (Ann) Horton; Her grandchildren Jason, Francine (Ryan), Pamela (Mel) and Ashley (Kyle) as well as her eight great-grandchildren; Step-daughter Annette (Barry) Sampson; Step-sons Paul (Nicole), Michael (Christene),
Richard (Diane), Trevor (Hollie) McInnis and 13 Step-grandchildren as well as 12 great Step-Grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Arthur "Ben" Horton; son Doug (Cecilia) Horton and siblings Tom, Norma, and Mary whom she loved dearly.
