HINKLEY, John Daniel Hugh "Johnny"- Age 44, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Inverness on November 14, 1972 he was a son of Myles Hinkley and the late Mary (Kennedy) Hinkley. John loved his family and friends. His wife and kids were his world, he was very family orientated and he loved spending as much time as he could with them. He loved his job as a roofer and loved working on cars. He also loved working around electronics. He was a "Jack of All Trades". He was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved his Bush beer and looked forward to the poker games on Saturday night. He loved listening to country music and singing all the time. He loved playing baseball right up until he got sick. He also loved playing darts every Thursday night and at home with family. He loved his tea and listening to and watching the news. John was such a humble man. He loved making people laugh and always had a smile on his face. Johnny would sooner give than receive. His most prized possessions were his children and the love of his life, April. He was surrounded by his loving family who loved him more than life itself. Surviving are his wife, April (Gibson) Hinkley; his children, Brooke, Dartmouth; Jason, Kameron, Konor, all of Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Sally Hinkley, Sydney; Danina MacDonnell, Sydney; Mary MacNeil, Inverness; Irene Marshall, Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Ernie (Mary), Margaree; Brian (Jess), Margaree; Archie, Inverness; Bernie (Corina), Inverness; Walter (Sam), Port Hawkesbury; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His best friends, Ronnie MacInnis, Duncan MacMullin and Earl Gibson will deeply miss him. Besides his mother Mary, he was predeceased by his brother, Hector. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com Visitation Information Visitation Wed. January 25 and Thurs.
