HENNESSEY (Stuckey), Flora Margaret- Age 93, Port Hawkesbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, just shy of her 94th birthday. Born in Hyannis, Nebraska USA, she was a daughter of the late Asa Wolfe and Sarah Lorena (Smith) Stuckey. Flora moved to Nova Scotia with her parents just before her 9th birthday and spent her formative years in Smithville, NS. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Convent in Mabou and went on to Normal College in Truro. She taught in Broad Cove Banks, Margaree, Glenholme, Smithville and Port Hawkesbury. Over her lifetime, she was an active member of St. Mark’s UCW, St. Mark’s United Church and the Evergreen Club. She is survived by her daughter, Bertha (Fred) Spicer, Bible Hill; son, Perry (Theresa) Hennessey, Newtown; grandchildren, Shannon (Caroline), Aggie and Annie Hennessey; great-grandchildren, Jillian and Rebecca Hennessey. She was predeceased by her husband, Basil Robert Hennessey; brothers-in-law, Perry and Carter. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for her wonderful care. A very special thank you to Dr. Collins for his care over many years. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury with Nan Corrigan DM officiating. Burial will follow in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s United Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
