Hanlon, Walter J. "Skipper" - Age 72, Canso, Guys. Co. Passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 16, 2015.
Born in Dartmouth, on September 22, 1942 he was a son of the late Walter and Hattie (Welsh) Hanlon. Walter worked at the Canso Fish Plant until he retired. He was a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso.
Surviving are his son, John, Canso, who will miss him very much; also sisters, Catherine, Mary-Ann, Thelma (Wally), Nora (Addison), Dorothy all of Canso; Jamie (Donnie), Dover; Joyce, Guysborough; brothers, Tommy (Ruth), Canso; Edward, P.E.I.; Jimmy, Isaac's Harbour; many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. His little Sweetheart nieces, Stacey, Janaya and Alyssa. He will be missed by his canine buddy Spot. He was predeceased by his wife, Stella (DeWolfe); brother, Carl; sister, Helen; brothers-in-law, Ainsley, Lawrence and Clarence.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Star of the Sea Parish Cemetery, Canso with Father Dan MacDonald officiating.
