Horton, Percy Donald --- 63, Middle Musquodoboit and Canso, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on 19 July, 2005 in the Musquodoboit Memorial Hospital, in the loving embrace of his dear wife Rita, after a long battle with Cancer. Until his retirement several years ago, Percy was employed in many capacities, including: inshore and deep sea fisherman, Coast Guard, construction, shipyards, custodial work and recycling metals. He will be remembered as a man who was totally devoted to his wife Rita, whom he loved dearly, as she loved him, and to his stepson, Michael, both of whom will cherish forever the years he was in their lives. Percy is also survived by his four sisters: Pearl ( Elliot ) Grant- St Francis Harbour, Lillian ( John ) Nickerson, Canso, Helen ( Thomas Avery ), Larry's River, and Murial ( Denis) Bousquet ), Montreal, as well as seven brothers: Fred ( Evangeline ), St Catherine;s, Ont;, Thomas ( Linda ), Middle Musquodoboit, David ( Maria ), Halifax, Nelson ( Jean ), Miramichi, NB, Stanley, Truro, Maxwell ( Penny ), Truro, and Robert (Cathy ), Truro, and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother Tom was also a close and loyal friend, who was always there for Percy and Rita, as they struggled with Percy's failing health. Percy found particular joy in gardening, fishing, the open spaces, he loved all animals, showing kindness to older people, and had a profound love of Blue Grass music. Percy was truly grateful to Rita for the love they shared with each other and for the joy she brought into his life during the 28 years they were together. He will be remembered by his family and many friends as a kind and gentle man, who demanded little but was always prepared to give to others.
