MacPHAIL, Duncan Alexander- Age 68, River Denys, Inverness Co., passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Inverness, he was a son of Helen "Ella" (Morrison) MacPhail and the late Lewis MacPhail.
Duncan was a self-employed trucker for many years. He also worked for MacKenzie Bros. Construction for several years and retired from the Dept. of Transportation in 2013. Duncan was always the family "go to" guy in any projects and his skillfulness will be sorely missed. He was a member of River Denys Presbyterian Church.
Besides his mother, Duncan is survived by sisters, Mary Louise (Frank) Miller, Virginia Pearl (Sandy) MacLennan, Hazel (Maurice) Foster, Helen (Philip) Leonard; brothers, Raymond, Peter (Phyllis), Morris (Brenda) Harold (Betty); sister-in-law, Millie; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Warren, Cornelius and Harold Wilbert.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday from River Denys Presbyterian Church with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating assisted by Rev. Wayne MacLeod. Burial will follow in Upper River Denys Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in Duncan’s memory may be made to Central Inverness County Palliative Care (Patient Care). Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
