MACRITCHIE, NORMAN L. - 86, Weston, Ontario passed away peacefully and faithfully supported by those who loved him dearly in the Etobicoke General Hospital, Toronto, ON; on Monday, April 30, 2012. Born in Orangedale East, he was a son of the late Murdock A. and Alena A. (Campbell) MacRitchie. Norman was a devoted and loving husband and was dearly loved by his family and friends (especially Tony and Dave who faithfully visited him after Barbara died and when he was in the hospital). Before he was married Norman worked in the United States and after moving to Toronto he was employed by deHavilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd, Downsview, ON until his retirement. He was especially proud of the work he did on the Dash 8. The care of his home and his garden was a most important part of his life. He will be fondly remembered by his neighbours for all the ways he helped them with various projects and problems and with good humour. He is survived by sisters, Margaret Logue, Toronto, Ont.; Kathleen MacLean, Little Narrows; Mary (Clarence) Roberts, Baddeck; brother, Lloyd, Baddeck; sisters-in-law, Ann (Gordon) Cann, Sidney, BC and Evelyn Williams, Halifax, several nieces and nephews. Norman was a man of strength and courage, gentle spirit and generosity and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Morrison), sisters, Florence Houchin, Carolyn MacDonald and Mildred Ellis and brother, Allister. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh. Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Donations in memory of Norman may be made to the Stewartdale Cemetery Company or a charity of your choice.
