NICHOLSON, Margaret Christena – 94, of Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, formerly of Port Hawkesbury and St. George's Channel, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 in Alderwood Rest Home. Born in Skye Glen, Inverness Co. she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Jessie Anne (MacLellan) Nicholson. Margaret was a member of St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury, as well as St. Mark’s U.C.W. and Evergreen Senior Citizens Club, Port Hawkesbury. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for the law firm, Sullivan, Smith, Sullivan, MacDonald & Moreland Barristers & Solicitors. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Margaret MacDonald, Sydney; Jessie MacKenzie, River Denys; also several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold MacKenzie, former second husband, Allan MacKinnon, sisters, Catherine, Tena, Flora, Nellie, twins Alfa and Agnes, brothers, Danny, Jack, Willie, Angus and Archie. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2p.m. from Black River United Church, Black River, with Nan Corrigan, DM officiating. Burial will follow in MacKay Cemetery, in St. George’s Channel. Memorial donations made be made to St. Mark’s or Black River United Churches. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
