Nicholson, May MacKenzie (Hadley) - 95, Mulgrave. With sad news we the family of May MacKenzie Nicholson of Mulgrave inform you that our mother went to the arms of God on Monday, March 21, 2011. Born in Mulgrave, on May 28, 1915 she was a daughter of the late Hattie Maude (MacLeod) and Edgar Lawrence Hadley of Mulgrave. She was the loving wife of Norman John Nicholson. She was a lifelong faithful member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave. Taking part as a member of the choir and the Anglican Church Women for many years. She worked as a postal worker, mail driver, taxi driver, Acadia Fisheries and above all a devoted wife to Norman, loving mother to her seven children and a kind and generous friend to many.
Left to mourn her loss and treasure her memory are her six children, Norman (Bonnie) , Maine; Charles (Sue), Ontario; Marjorie (Ernest), Mulgrave; Mildred (Antoine), Mulgrave; Edgar (Carolyn), Linwood; Lorraine (Fred), Mulgrave; grandchildren, Danny, Travis, Nelson, Sonia, Christopher, Aaron, Robert, Christine, Adam, Carli, Melissa, Jason, and 16 great-grandchildren. May was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Norman; son, Neville; her parents, brothers, Edgar, George, James, Rod, Charles and Harry; sisters, Sarah, Clancy, Nita, and Mildred Hadley; granddaughter Lisa Weeks and great – granddaughter Amanda Nicholson.
Cremation has taken place; a service of celebration will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Dennis Hayward officiating. A reception will follow at the Mulgrave Fire Hall. Family burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church.
