Innis, William John – 82, Guysborough, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born September 30, 1928, in Jollimore, he was the son of the late Marjorie (Manuge) and Stephen Innes. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps. He also served with Canadian peacekeeping forces under the auspices of the United Nations in the Gaza Strip, Egypt. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 81, Guysborough and a member of Christ Anglican Church, Guysborough.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Esther (Whitman); son, William, Guysborough; daughters, Monica Kennedy (Anthony), Roachvale; Catherine (Murray) Greene, Ashdale; Anne Marie Innis, Mill Cove; grandchildren: Tara Kennedy, Calgary, Alberta; Melanie Greene, Ashdale; Ryan (Andrea) Greene, Ashdale; Amanda Greene(Nathan), Lower South River; Alexis Andrews, Mill Cove; great-grandchildren: Taedon Anderson, Alexander and Donovan Greene. brothers, Richard (Carol), Bridgewater, Donald (Elaine), Boutilier’s Point; Keith (Sheila), Boutilier’s Point, Bruce (Jean), Hammonds Plains; sisters, Nancy (Fred) Harries, Stowe, Vermont; Genesta (Ralph) Wheadon, Timberlea; Betsy Cooke, Pugwash; Caroline (Gilbert) Cooke, Pugwash, Margaret (Earl) Croft, Dartmouth; Judith (Frank) Bain, Hantsport; Heather (Eduard) Schyf, Cobble Hill, British Columbia; Sandra, Windsor; Susan Manning, Edmonton, Alberta; Frances Checkley, Halifax; Deborah, Upper Vaughn. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister, Josephine Blackburn.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 24, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough with a Legion service at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 25, at 2:00 pm from Wesley United Church, Guysborough, with Reverend Darroch Fagan officiating. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. A reception will follow the funeral service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Guysborough. Family flowers only please.
