MacIntyre, Doris Anastasia, RN, - Port Hawkesbury, age 93. Passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Port Hawkesbury, on July 27, 1921; she is a daughter of the late Stephen and Annie Webb MacDonald. Doris was a graduate of the Halifax Infirmary, School of Nursing (RN, Class of 43), as a RN she worked at the Infirmary and Inverness Hospital. When Doris married the love of her life, Daniel J."DJ" MacIntyre, she volunteered as a nurse in the town, assisting in many endeavours through the years. She worked as a nurse at the Heavy Water Plant and the Pulp Mill. An avid baker and cook, she loved to provide meals and sweets, especially her oat cakes, for members of the community. Doris loved to play the piano and with members of her orchestra "The Rhythamers" would practise in the living room of the family home, and play thought-out the region. She is survived by her children, Anne Webb (Leo) Muise, Dartmouth; Michael (Jeanette), Halifax; Leslie A. (Susan), Baddeck; grandchildren, Joanna and Robert Muise; Jessica and Josh MacIntyre; Daniel, Grace and Kathryn MacIntyre and numerous cousins. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Joseph "DJ" MacIntyre; son, Robert MacDonald MacIntyre (age 6 years); sister, Eileen Leslie; brother, Webb MacDonald.Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 5th, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 6th , in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating.
