MacINNIS, John Francis – 90, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Point Tupper. We regret to announce the death of our dad, John Francis MacInnis which occurred on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, while surrounded by his family. Born in Creignish Rear, Inverness Co. he was the son of the late Hugh J. and Sarah (MacDonald) MacInnis. Francis was retired from the Nova Scotia Power Commission. As a pastime he loved playing cards and taking long drives out around the old homestead in Creignish Rear, but most of all he cherished the company of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, June (MacLean) MacInnis, of Point Tupper; also surviving are his children, Linda (Sonny), Cleveland; Gary (Ella), Port Hawkesbury; Terry (Brenda), Port Hastings; Robert (Elizabeth), Point Tupper; Debbie, Bernie (Alice), both of Port Hawkesbury; Donna, Coldbrook; Wendy (Jerry), Port Hastings; brother, Lawrence (Lola), Halifax; sister, Margaret (Bill) Oxby, Berwick; 26 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by sons, Brian and Billy; brothers, Angus, Dan Joe, Leo and Archie; sisters, Marie, Mary Kate, Agnes, Mary Ann, Kaye and Theresa. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm with vigil service at 2pm, Thursday August 2, both in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Service will be 10am Friday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
