KINNEY, Allan Millard - 86, Steep Creek, Guysborough Co./Harbourview Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 26, 2005, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. He was born the oldest of nine children in Linwood, Antigonish Co., to the late Allan and Sabina (Atwater) Kinney. He was a retired road foreman for the Department of Highways, Guysborough. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas with the Fourth Field Regiment, RCA, as part of the Normandy Invasion. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford. In current years, he served as president of Cambrai Branch No. 37, Royal Canadian Legion, Mulgrave. Millard will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Hilda O'Toole; daughters, Esther (Peter) Atkinson; Verna (John) Halloran, Guysborough; sons, Courtney, Steep Creek; Arnold, Mulgrave; Warren (Denise), Enfield; 10 grandchildren, with whom he delightfully enjoyed every moment; brothers, Angus (Bonnie), Sydney; Clayton, Lochaber; sister, Connie Campbell (Don Laffin), Linacy. He was predeceased by sisters, Irene in childhood, Elsie, Marjorie, Dorothy; brother, John. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Michael Conrad officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Mulgrave. Donations in memory of Millard may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Strait Area Kidney Foundation, or St. James Anglican Church.
