MacKay Alexander A. … 76, St. George’s Channel Richmond County. It is with great sadness, the family announces the death of Alex on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in St. George’s Channel he was a son of the late Alexander (Sandy) and Christina(MacRae)MacKay. In his earlier years he lived in Levack, Ont.. Alex was a retired miner employed with INCO, Sudbury for 37 years, returning to his home in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He is survived by son Barry Kevin, Whycocomagh / St. George’s Channel; sisters Hazel Pursey, Richmond Villa, St. Peters; Annie Williams, Ottawa, Ont.; Helen (James) MacLachlan, Toronto; brother Duncan, Wiarton, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Verda(MacLean); sisters, Violet Shea; Dolena Calder; Katherine Easthouse; brothers, John H. ; Willie D. and Hector G. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Black River United Church, Rev. James Bragen officiating, burial in MacKay Cemetery, St. George’s Channel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MacKay Cemetery, St. George’s Channel or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
