Nickerson Homer Leroy Jr. - 70, Canso died Friday, September 1, 2006 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Canso he was a son of the late Homer Sr. and Edith (McGrath) Nickerson.
Homer was a member of the Canso United Baptist Church and engineer on the trawler boats for 35 years. When retired Homer spent the winters in Clearwater, Fl. Before taking up permanent residence in Canso Surviving are sisters Jean Boudreau, Canso; Pat (Ed) Pope, Dartmouth; Marilyn (Frank) Haines, Little Dover; Darlene Munroe, Halifax; brother Doug (Bev. ) Little Dover; Several nieces and nephews whom he had a special spot in his heart for.
Visitation will be 2-9 pm Saturday at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday in the Canso United Baptist Church, Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Canso United Baptist Church. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
