NICKERSON, Homer Judson Sr. - 91, Canso, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Carter) Nickerson. He was a retired fish plant worker. Homer was a member of Canso United Baptist Church. He loved walking around town, and was a lover of gospel music and Christmas. Surviving are daughters, Jean Boudreau, Canso; Pat (Ed) Pope, Dartmouth; Marilyn (Frank) Haines, Little Dover; Darlene Monroe, Halifax; sons, Homer Jr., Canso; Doug (Bev), Little Dover; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Homer was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith (McGrath); brother, Manford; sister, Dorothy Crocker. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Canso United Baptist Church, Rev. David Wheeler officiating.
