NICKERSON, Homer Judson Sr. - 91, Canso, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Carter) Nickerson. He was a retired fish plant worker. Homer was a member of Canso United Baptist Church. He loved walking around town, and was a lover of gospel music and Christmas. Surviving are daughters, Jean Boudreau, Canso; Pat (Ed) Pope, Dartmouth; Marilyn (Frank) Haines, Little Dover; Darlene Monroe, Halifax; sons, Homer Jr., Canso; Doug (Bev), Little Dover; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Homer was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith (McGrath); brother, Manford; sister, Dorothy Crocker. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Canso United Baptist Church, Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
