Lees, Rev. Adam, B.Th., M.Div., I. Eng., M.I. Mar. E., 74 - Lake Ainslie, Inverness Co.; passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Born in Couper, Scotland he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Anderson) Lees. Adam served with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary as an Engineer. He immigrated to Canada in 1966; a Marine Engineer by trade, Adam was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry in 1988. His years of Ministry were a conviction of heart and soul serving the Lord and the people of the communities in which he lived.
Adam was a man of his word, very compassionate and gave fully of himself in all that he did, helping countless people in all kinds of situations, whenever and wherever the need arose. Adam was a man of principal who possessed the courage of his convictions. He deeply loved the congregation he served at St. Andrew’s, Whycocomagh and Little Narrows Presbyterian Church and referred to his ministry there as the high point of his life. Adam was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 123, Whycocomagh, Sircom Lodge 66, Whycocomagh, Lake Ainslie Historical Society and the Gaelic Music Group. He was an avid reader, loved gardening, woodwork, sailing and repairing old clocks. Adam had a brilliant mind, and was often described as a man ahead of his time. He loved the Gaelic language and revelled in any opportunity to converse with those who shared that same passion. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera (Christie) Lees, brothers, Robert and Albert Lees, Scotland; as well as many nieces and nephews, who also reside in Scotland. He was predeceased by his brother, Jim.
There will no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 19 in Little Narrows Presbyterian Church conducted by Presbytery of Cape Breton, with Moderator Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating assisted by other clergy. Burial will take place in Scotland at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Adam may be made to a charity of choice.
