Pelley, Leo James – Age 91 of Fall River formerly of Tompkinsville, Guysborough Co. It is with deep sorrow that we announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, May 17. 2016, in the QEll Health Science Center, Halifax, with his family at his side. Born in Tompkinsville, on March 14, 1925 he was a son of the late James and Laura Pelley and he was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough.
In his earlier years Leo worked at Trenton Car Works, truck driving, hauling wood as well as some forestry and farming. He worked throughout Nova Scotia as a heavy equipment operator where he used his skills building roads in various locations. In 1970 he began working for the Department of Transportation in Guysborough where he remained up until his retirement.
Leo loved music, especially Newfie tunes and his voice could be often heard singing a verse or two of a remembered song. He was very family orientated and enjoyed his family gatherings where live entertainment was provided by family and friends as well as a good laugh over a hand of cards (he especially loved his crib), And up until the time of his illness he was an avid hunter for years.
He will long be remembered for his harmless pranks that he played on many for years.
