Morrell, Roy Vincent – Crandall Road, Inverness Co., age 97. Passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Roy was born in River Herbert, Cumberland Co. on November 24, 1917; he was a son of the late James and Leticia (Rushton) Morrell. Roy was a veteran of World War 11, serving with the RCAF. He farmed, worked as a labourer and worked as a Commissionaire at NS Power Generating Station, Point Tupper. He was an adherent of St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings. Survived by his daughters, Doris (Sonny) Carrigan, Crandall Road; Myrtle (Freddy) Williams, Springhill; Rosemary Morrell, Crandall Road; son, James (Jennifer Sheppard), Creignish Rear; grandchildren, Dawn, Roger, Dale, Florence, Terry, Perry, Sonya, Angela, Dougie, Sandi, Melissa; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is predeceased by his wife, Florence (LeBlanc); daughter, Patricia; son-in-law, Glenn Curry; grandson, Francis; brothers, Henry, Norman, Woody; sisters, Tessie, Myrtle, Gladys and Daisy. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 1st , in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 2nd, in St. David's United Church, Port Hastings with Nan Corrigan, DM officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. David's United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings.
