MALCOLM, Clyde Wilburn "C.W." – 85, Point Tupper/Port Hawkesbury. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clyde on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Port Malcolm, Richmond Co., on October 2, 1929, he was a son of the late Beatrice Malcolm. Clyde was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He worked on construction of the Canso Causeway and later went to work at the pulp mill, where he retired from Stora as a warehouse supervisor. In his pastime Clyde enjoyed handcrafting wooden model boats and volunteering at the Point Tupper Heritage Association. In the summer, Clyde would always be at the waterfront enjoying an afternoon with his friends. He is survived by his daughter, Alice (Ron) Beaton, Port Hawkesbury; grandsons, Ronald (Caroline), Kevin (Catriona), great-grandchildren, Morgan, Calum, Danny and Finley; cousin, Fred Malcolm; godchild, Alice MacIntosh and close friends, Charlie Green and Myrtle and Barbie LeLacheur. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen (Hayes) in June 2006; Russell and Ella (Robinson) Malcolm, John S. (Jack) Malcolm and Hilda Webb and all his Hayes in-laws and their spouses. As per Clyde’s request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the Evergreen Club, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial donations may be made to the Point Tupper Heritage Association or to Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Society. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
