Paul, David Joseph Sr. - 34, Waycobah First Nation. Passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 17, 2014 in Waycobah. Born in Sydney, on January 10, 1980 he was a son of Theresa Stevens, Eskasoni and Wilfred Paul and stepmother, Yvonne Denny, Eskasoni. David was a carpenter, a member of Saint Kateri Parish, Holy Trinity Church, a member of and Deputy Chief of We’koqma’q Volunteer Fire Department and a Medical First Responder. He is survived by his wife, Andrea "Poopsie" Phillips, daughter, Hanna; sons, Scott Phillips and David Jr., all at home. Step brother, Lorne Denny, Eskasoni; parental grandmother, Elizabeth Knockwood, Eskasoni; Godfather, Ben Sylliboy, Eskasoni; several godchildren; uncles, Ronald Stevens, Wagmatcook, Gordon Christmas, Alex Christmas both of Membertou; Ivan Knockwood, Eskasoni; John Michael Stevens and Tommy Stevens both of Eskasoni; aunts, Mary Jane Stevens, Eskasoni; Margaret, Ontario; Jackie, Irene, Norma, Georgina, Theresa all of Eskasoni; in–laws, Angela (Kenneth) Googoo, Waycobah; Margaret (Steve) Simon, Malagawatch; Carol Bernard, Waycobah; Richard (Dolores) Phillips, Waycobah; Al (Cindy) Gould, Eskasoni. David was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gladys and Daniel J. Stevens; parental grandfather, William Bernard; uncles, Allison Bernard, Isaac Joe Knockwood and Daniel Jr.; aunt, Linda Ginnish; godmother, Anna Stevens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Multi Purpose Building, 160 Reservation Road, Waycobah First Nation. Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 from Saint Kateri Holy Trinity Parish, We’koqma’q, with Father Paul Abbass officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery.
