Myatt, Gerard William - age 82, Little Dover, Guysborough Co. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, Gerard passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso.
Born in Little Dover on April 9, 1933, he was a son of the late Charles John Myatt, (D'Escousse) and Mary Elizabeth Rhynold, (Little Dover). Gerard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marion (Keefe); his children, Darlene (Buns), Antigonish; Lucina (Howie), Canso; Joey (Kathleen), Fox Island; Paula (Philip), Little Dover; Johnny (Cindy), Canso; Rob (Marlaine), White Head; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother, Alcide "Eck", Little Dover; sisters, Louise Harnish, Little Dover; Agnes Boudreau, Wakefield, Mass. He was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Hughie, Thomas; half siblings, Donald, Edna, Bridget and Cecile; daughter-in-law, Janice; grandson, Myles; great-granddaughter, Madison.
Dad was a very talented man, compassionate and a very well respected member of the community. A self taught licensed electrician, master boat builder and carpenter. He owned and operated G.W. Myatt and Sons for many years. Founding member of Little Dover Volunteer Fire Dept. His life was his family especially his children and grandchildren loved to take them to the camp, digging clams and sailing in his boat. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved 4 wheeling, hauling logs, hunting and enjoyed telling stories. Dad was an exceptional worker who worked at his trades right up to his passing. He will be sadly missed by his family and the community.
Visitation will take place in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso, Friday, August 28 from 2 - 9 p.m. Funeral mass being held on 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29 in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
