McLEAN (MacKeigan), Dorothy Anne – Whycocomagh. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy A. McLean, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney at age 81.
Born in Whycocomagh, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Margaret (Robinson) MacKeigan. She was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh and a life member of the U.C.W. She will be remembered by many after a 35 year teaching career in Whycocomagh.
She is survived by her husband, Dougald McLean; sisters, Katherine Turbill (late Kenzie), Florence MacKeigan, Sheila MacKay (late Archie), brother, Ian (Shirley) MacKeigan, all of Whycocomagh; stepsons, Ted McLean (Debbie), Eastern Passage; Karl McLean (Rachel), Ottawa; step-granddaughter, Melanie McLean, Ottawa; nieces, Lynanne, Mary Ann (Darren), Christena (Jason), Mary Beth (George), Nancy; nephews, John C. (Alice), Ivan, John L. (Tanya).
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be Monday at 2 p.m. from Stewart United Church with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
