MACAULAY (Munro), Marcella Jean-87, Whycocomagh, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012, in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born in Whycocomagh, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Jessie (Mac Sween) Munro. Jean was a fiercely determined person in perpetual motion. She delighted in working in her garden, tending her beloved Malagawatch property, and spending time with her family. Jean will be remembered as an independent and fearless "eighty-something", often alarming those around her by climbing a ladder to the rooftop or insisting on riding the most extreme roller coasters. In her early years, Jean taught school in Big Harbour Island and worked for the Department of National Revenue in Halifax, and later worked for many years for AA Munro Insurance in Whycocomagh. Jean will be dearly missed and is survived by her daughter, Donna (Wayne) Ezekiel, Antigonish; son, David (Joan), Dartmouth; brothers George, Stewart and Bobby; grandchildren James, Katherine Anne, Mark, Meghan and Heather. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Donald; brothers, Alcorn and Donald; sisters, Ruth and Lorraine. Cremation has taken place under the compassionate care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday, September 12 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. Thursday, September 13, from Stewart United Church in Whycocomagh, with Karen Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Stewartdale Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Margot Sadler and the wonderful, caring staff of the RK MacDonald Nursing Home for their unending support in Jean’s final days. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Jean’s memory may do so to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Nova Scotia, the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home (Antigonish) or the charity of your choice.
