MACLENNAN, Andrew Malcolm- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Andrew Malcolm MacLennan, aged 50 on Dec.9th, announces that he lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home in Melford, Inverness Co. on Monday, March 5, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He will be greatly missed by childhood sweetheart and devoted wife, Judy (MacKay), and children, Adam (Port Hawkesbury), Robert and Diane, at home. Andrew was a jack-of-all trades, and enjoyed his time working for the Department of Highways and as a heavy equipment operator for Ivan MacKenzie. He loved camping with his family, ski-dooing with his children and many friends, and volunteering with the Blues Mills Fire Department. He will be greatly missed by his sisters Janet Clark, Brenda Dunphy (Ed), and Jacqueline Boyd (Lawrence), and his brother, Lawrence. Andrew’s many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins will also miss his dry wit and resourcefulness. His extended family of brothers-in-law, Gordon, Roy, and Ross MacKay, their families, sisters-in-law, Audrey Fraser and Kathleen Whidden,and his favourite, mother-in-law, Beatrice MacKay, will miss his card skills and sense of humour. Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Bunny (Alexis Gillis) MacLennan, siblings, Blair and Debbie, and brothers-in-law, David and Arnold.
Cremation has taken place and internment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh, on Wednesday, March 7th from 3-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Center Patient Care Fund. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.haverstocks.com.
