Newell, Michael Brian—58, Tickle Rd, Guysborough Co., died Friday December 1, 2006 at sea. Born in Canso he was the son of Ena (Zwicker) Newell, Canso and the late Robert J Newell. He was an inshore fisherman for over 40 years. Michael was a member of the Guysborough County Inshore Fishermen’s Association, where he served many years as president. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathy (Bond) Newell, daughters Katherine (Ryan Nickerson) Newell, Antigonish; Melanie (Neil) Newell, Liverpool; sons Christopher (Larissa Durling) Newell, Halifax, Alen (Michelle) Newell, Fox Island, Brian (Tammy) Newell, New Glasgow. Siblings Edward Newell, Halifax; Kevin Newell, Truro; Bobbie Newell, Canso; Roberta Kuhn, Chester; Cathy (George) Parker, Yellow Marsh; Joan (Richard) Horne, Canso; Harold (Mary) Newell, Canso; Mary (John) Conrad, Amherst; Elsie Meggetto, Dartmouth. Grandchildren Aiden, Dylan, Jade, Maive, Sebastien, Blake and Meghan. Predeceased by sister Annette Newell. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday in the Canso United Baptist Church, Rev.
