Oliver, Hazel Isabell- Port Hastings, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born on Port Hood Island she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Mabel (Smith) MacPherson. Hazel was a retired school teacher having taught in Inverness County and Halifax City School System. She was a member of St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings. Hazel is survived by her son, Bruce, Port Hastings; sister, Ethel MacPherson, Port Hastings and many cousins, also her cats Tiger and Whiskers. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett and a sister Laura in infancy. By her request there will be no visitation, a private funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating.
