It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend on Thursday, March 5, 2015.
Edward was born on October 15, 1937 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton. Edward served in the Armed Forces for 8 years, stationed in France, Germany, Annapolis Valley and Montreal. He was employed with Air Canada as an Avionics Technician from 1971 till he took early medical retirement.
Edward and wife Mary were foster parents to more than one hundred children. Some of them are still in contact. Edward enjoyed woodworking and collecting tools as well as listening to country music and watching golf.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen (Sampson); children, Sandra Gerry, Guelph, Ontario; Jim Pentecost (Jennifer), Halifax; and Heather Hosein (Ricky), Brampton, Ontario; grandchildren, Shaun Pentecost (Mandy), Robert Gerry and Kayla Hosein and sister, Anne Sampson (Joe).
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Annie Pentecost; brother, John; sisters, Mary Babineau and Margret Allen.
Cremation has taken place and funeral service will take place from St. John the Baptist Church, River Bourgeois, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 9, with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative care unit.
