POIRIER, John Francis "Frank" - 80, Port Hawkesbury, died Friday, May 4, 2007, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in D'Escousse, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Edward and Leontine (Pertus) Poirier. In his younger years, Frank sailed on the Imperial Oil tankers and worked at Nova Scotia Power, Halifax. He was a retired Superintendent of Power Plant Utilities, Stora Forest Industries. Frank was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury, and Cape Nova Council 7924 Knights of Columbus, and a founding member of the Port Hawkesbury Figure Skating Club. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Britten); daughters, Francene (Tom) Cusack, Calgary, Alta.; Janet Poirier (Greg Collins), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; sons, Jim (Darlene), Dartmouth; Bernie (Lisa), Lac Du Bonnet, Man.; John (Debbie), Port Hastings; Robert (Linda), Zaneville, Ohio; Daniel (Pamela), Fall River; sisters, Margaret Baldwin, Elise (Bernie) Britten, both of Sydney; grandchildren, Chris, Alexandra, Avalon, Rain, Riley, Kalen, Cohen, James, Julianna, Danielle, and Jamie Lynn. He was predeceased by brother, Alphonse.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with vigil service 8:30 p.m. Sunday, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
