POWER, Marjorie Helen - 88, Auld's Cove, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2005, surrounded by her loved ones and the caring staff of Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Sophie (MacDonald) Girroir. Marjorie was a teacher, having taught in Havre Boucher, for a number of years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave, and a lifetime member of the CWL.
Surviving are daughters, Kathy Burbidge, Port Hawkesbury; Peggy Greencorn, Auld's Cove; sons, John (Virginia), New Zealand; Mike (Claire), Quebec; Pat, Truro; grandchildren, Shamsi, Ruhi, Janet, Norman, Garth, Peggy, Jennifer, Kathleen, Johnathan, Gabriel, Lawrence, Patrick, Michelle, Erin; great-grandchildren, Eli, Lua, Alexis; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; infant daughter, Anne Marie; sisters, Florence, Kaye; brothers, Ben, Bill, Eugene, and Hubert.
This loving wife, mother and grandmother is best remembered by her devotion to Joe and her family and her kindness to others. She took great pleasure in helping those in need and visiting family and friends. She will remain forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only.
Donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or St. Lawrence Parish Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
