SPRAY, James Innis "Jim" – August 21, 1942 – October 26, 2014, Port Hawkesbury. We regret to announce the passing of Jim Spray, who died suddenly at home on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Born in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, he was a son of the late James Colwyn and Annie "Janet" (MacInnis) Spray. Jim attended St. Therese School and Port Hawkesbury Public School. He spent time working for the Canadian National Railway Police in the 1960’s and worked in PEI, North Sydney, Toronto and Windsor, Ont. He returned home when his father’s health began to decline to take over Spray’s Convenience Store on Granville St. in Port Hawkesbury. He ran this with his former wife, Lillie (Adamsson) until 1980. They opened Spray’s Apartments which he ran for 30 years. He was Harbour Master and a Justice of the Peace in Port Hawkesbury and was a member of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department. Jim is survived by his daughters, Mariea (Kenneth) Moar, Esterhazy, SK; Mary (Chris) Klages, Sioux Lookout, Ont; son, James Arthur, L’Ardoise; brother, Arthur (Gail), Norwood, Ont; nieces, Lisa (Ian) Andrews and Janet (Ian) White, both of Ontario; numerous cousins from the Spray, MacInnis, Morgan and Morash families, including special cousin, Alice (Jack) Wallis and his devoted friend, Helen O’Toole. He was predeceased by a sister in infancy. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
