Obituary
Please share a memory of Lesa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Lesa Ann Sampson, 48, of French Cove, Cape Breton, who passed away on Saturday, October 25th, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home.
After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May 2012, she lived on with courage, determination and acceptance for two and a half years, full of ups and downs. She was the daughter of Bertha (Carter) and the late Peter Burke of Sampsonville.
Lesa’s number one priority in life was her three children and her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 26 years. She had an intense competitive spirit; which earned her a starting position as a catcher on the Nova Scotia Women’s Softball team in the 1985 Canada Summer Games. She demonstrated this spirit in every sport she played, coached and watched, especially when her children were playing. She also enjoyed all the summers she spent boating on the Bras d’Or Lakes with her family and friends.
Lesa is survived by her soul mate and husband, Reg and children, Ashley (Paul), Erica and Nolan; Sisters and Brothers, Diane (Paul), Louie (Helena), Vernon (Raymonde), Lonnie (Kelly), Julie, Helen (Junior), Karen, Cynthia (Lester), Timmy (Jenny), Jillian (Roy), Robert (Linda), Kelly (Joan), Lorne (Treka); mother and father-in-law, Vi and Lenus Sampson; sister-in-law, Angela (Bruce), Texas; and brother-in-law, Andre (Sara), Calgary.
Lesa’s family would like to commend all the people who helped and cared for her especially Dr Cooper and Nancy Cameron who are part of the palliative care team at the Strait Richmond Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial St., St. Peter’s, from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday October 28th. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29th from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s, with Father Dennis Lamey officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
