SAMPSON, Leona Bridget – 84, Little Dover, Guysborough Co. passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Little Dover, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Katie (David) Haines. Leona was a member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover. She was an avid knitter, knitting over 16,000 finger puppets for the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital. Surviving are sisters, Garnet (Gordon) Mason, Isabel Boudreau, Margaret Horne, Christina Keefe, all of Little Dover; Amanda Pelrine, Spryfield ; brothers, Duffield (Rhoda), Thomas (Beattie), Ronald (Peggy), Lloyd (Irene), Manzer (Anna), all of Little Dover; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth, brothers, John and Malcolm. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, from 7-9p.m. and 2-9p.m. Friday September 9, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral Mass will be held 11a.m. Saturday September 10, from St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
