ROUSE, Edward Brennan "Poppy" — 73, Soapstone Mines, Inverness Co., passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on Sunday, May 30, 2010. Born in Big Marsh, March 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Harry and Kathleen (Large) Rouse (Big Marsh). Edward was a long-time employee of the Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ski-dooing, gardening, tinkering with machinery, his visits to Big Marsh and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was known as Poppy to everyone. Edward was known as a person who was always there to give a helping hand to friends and neighbours. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Faye (MacLeod): daughter, Karen (Moxie) MacLean, Soapstone Mines; sons, Gordie, Soapstone Mines; Jason (Christena), Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Spencer, Barrett, Jessica, Cari, Robyn, Callista and Jansen; sister, Wilena Ryan, Port Hawkesbury; sisters-in-law, Sadie MacRury, Diane Rouse; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his little companion, Happy. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Katherine MacLeod; brothers, Allie and Gordon; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Suzi; brothers-in-law, Gordon MacLeod, Fred Ryan and Donald MacRury; granddaughter, Heather Michelle. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial to follow in Stewartdale Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in memory of Edward to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
