ROUSE, Edward Brennan "Poppy" — 73, Soapstone Mines, Inverness Co., passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on Sunday, May 30, 2010. Born in Big Marsh, March 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Harry and Kathleen (Large) Rouse (Big Marsh). Edward was a long-time employee of the Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ski-dooing, gardening, tinkering with machinery, his visits to Big Marsh and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was known as Poppy to everyone. Edward was known as a person who was always there to give a helping hand to friends and neighbours. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Faye (MacLeod): daughter, Karen (Moxie) MacLean, Soapstone Mines; sons, Gordie, Soapstone Mines; Jason (Christena), Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Spencer, Barrett, Jessica, Cari, Robyn, Callista and Jansen; sister, Wilena Ryan, Port Hawkesbury; sisters-in-law, Sadie MacRury, Diane Rouse; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his little companion, Happy. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Katherine MacLeod; brothers, Allie and Gordon; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Suzi; brothers-in-law, Gordon MacLeod, Fred Ryan and Donald MacRury; granddaughter, Heather Michelle. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating.
