RYAN, Francis Joseph - 90, Port Hawkesbury, died Thursday, June 21,2007 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Port Hawkesbury, he was a son of the late Augustus and Theresa (MacDonald) Ryan. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Hawkesbury. He was an original founding member of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1942. He worked for the CNR for seventeen years, Nova Scotia Pulp and retired from the Port Hawkesbury Arena Commission. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Lorraine (Hodder); daughter Paula (Archie) Mac Lachlan, Port Hawkesbury; sons, Terrence, West Bay Marshes, David (Phyllis), Port Hawkesbury, Carmen (Sue), Edmonton, AB, Shawn (Dana), Port Hawkesbury; sister Theresa Peeples, Mulgrave; brother Gregory, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Garth, Tanya, Shane, Nikki, Aaron, Brianna, Nicholas, Jessie, Patrick and Benjamin. He was predeceased by step mother Tena (Grover), sister Cassie Goodwin, two in infancy, brothers Allan, Leonard, Bernard, Angus and Gussie. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury with a vigil service at 8:30pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, June 24, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery.
