Watts, Robert Hugh – 81, of Port Hood, Inv. Co. Passed away peacefully with family at his side, at the Inverary Manor, Inverness on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Born in Inverness hospital on May 8, 1933 to the late Albro and Katie (MacLean) Watts, Robert was a fisherman and a lifelong resident of Port Hood. He embodied the meaning of hard work and his quiet nature was a hallmark of who he was, with faith, family, fishing, and farming being the main threads woven through his life. He loved his home on Marble Hill and the land around it, working in the fields and in the woods, and enjoying walks around the shore. His second home was Murphy’s Pond where many friendships were forged and where he could always be counted on for the latest forecast and to share a laugh. Indeed, many meals were delayed at home because Dad was late returning from The Pond! He is survived by Betty, his wife of almost 53 years; children, Joanne, Port Hood; Roberta, New Glasgow; Hugh (Sarah), Port Hood; grandchildren, Elijah, Madeline, Malia, and Gabriella, who will miss Papa’s fun and stories; nephews Wilfred and Brennan, both of Port Hood. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, LG, sister-in-law, Bernadette, and nephew, Hadley. Visitation for the late Robert Watts will be held today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood on Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Vincent van Zutphen officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Foundation or to Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral arrangements under care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that his struggle has ended; may he rest in peace. ‘We will meet again on that beautiful shore’ Visitation Information Visitation Friday, April 10, 2015 Visitation Time 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation Location Port Hood and Area Resting Place, Port Hood Service Information Service Date Saturday, April 11, 2015 Service Time 11 a.m. Service Location St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood Burial Information Burial Location Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
