The passing of John “Jack” William Tilsley , East Lake Ainslie, Inverness Co., formerly of Truro, NS, age 65 occurred on Tuesday November 24 ,2006 at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, after a short but courageous struggle with cancer. Born August 27, 1941 at Musquodoboit Harbour, NS he was a son of the late Edwin and Annie May(MacKenzie) Tilsley.
Jack was a loving husband and father, adoring grandfather, well respected teacher and masterful “Jack of all trades.” Jack’s generous nature touched many, many lives- as a community college teacher, mentor, volunteer fireman, Cap site volunteer, friend and neighbour, mechanical genius and a member of SS Marion Sailing Society. Even during his valiant struggle with cancer Jack continued to teach by example with humility, acceptance and bravery. He deeply loved his family and honoured his many friendships and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Bea(nee MacKenzie); daughters Kimberly (Glen Covey) Southwest Margaree Susan (John Manley), Durham, Pictou Co.; grandchildren Jason, Briana and Ryan Covey; Lydia, and Tommy Manley; brothers James, Aurora, ON; Robert, Vernon BC; George, Pendleton, ON; sister Betty, Durham ,Pictou Co. He was predeceased by a sister Margaret Anne in infancy.
Visitation will be held at the family home 4182 Highway 395, East Lake Ainslie, Monday November 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of the life of John William Tilsley will be held at the Alexander Grant Memorial United Church, East Lake Ainslie on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:30 a.m., Reverend Donna Tourneur officicting with a private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Inverness Consolodated Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care Unit or the Alexander Grant Memorial United Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
