TOTTEN, Edward Joseph - 89, Port Hawkesbury, died Friday, August 13, 2004, in Richmond Villa, St. Peters. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Henry and Mary Jane (Ross) Totten. He was a retired employee of Nova Scotia Power, Port Hawkesbury; a member of St. Joseph's Parish; 28 year member of Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief. Edward was an avid sports fan. Surviving are daughter, Marion (Bernie) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; son, Joe (Catherine), Lower River, Inhabitants; sister, Catherine MacNeil, Sydney; granddaughter, Alanna; grandsons, Michael, Stephen and Shawn; great-granddaughters, Emily and Riley. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Maude Sampson; sisters, Mary Coe, Sadie MacDonald, Hughena and Agnes; brothers, George, Henry and Duncan. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuseday from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
