On Friday, January 11, 2013, Flavio Zovatto, of Port Hastings, passed away in the Halifax Infirmary, with his family by his side. We, his family, have lost our husband, father, son, brother and friend and we deeply mourn his passing. Flavio was born on February 22, 1964 in Fort William, Ont; where he lived with his parents and siblings. He graduated from the University of Manitoba as a Computer Engineer. Flavio moved to Port Hastings, 15 years ago, to work at the paper mill for Metso Automation. His friends and co-workers will miss him at the workplace. Flavio had an unwavering faith in God and gave back to his church and community in numerous ways: Right-to-Life, Knights of Columbus, Scouting and at St. Joseph’s Parish. Flavio is survived by his loving wife Annalisa Vogrig and their five precious children: Giuliana, Matteo, Federico, Andrea and Chiara. He is also survived by his mother Giovanna and sister Claudia (Joseph Shebib) and their children, in-laws Maria and Emidio Vogrig and their children, Giulietta (Joey Kramar); Caterina (Andre Baril); Patrizia (Matthias Kripel) and Stefano (Angela), and their children and many other relatives all around the world. Flavio was predeceased by his father Giacomo and sister Elena. Flavio was interested in all people, was a truly "Christian man" and was extremely dedicated to every group to which he belonged. His smiling presence will be missed in our community. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 10 am from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Scouts Canada.
