WATERS, Lillian Catherine - 95, Whycocomagh and Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, died Monday, December 18, 2006, in Alderwood Rest Home. Born in Wellesley, Mass., a daughter of the late Charles Amos and Ethel (Somers) Johnson.
Lillian was a homemaker and adherent of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh and a member of Stewart UCW, a life member of Dr. Gordon MacLeod Chapter 37 Order of Eastern Star, Whycocomagh and the Bayville Senior Citizens Club. Lillian really enjoyed family gatherings and other special occasions. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed receiving greeting cards.
Surviving are daughters, Florence (Frank) MacDonald, Saint John, N.B.; Janet (Glenford) Gillis, Whycocomagh; son, Melvin (Theresa) Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Gail Coleman, Jennifer Gardiner, Geoffrey MacDonald, Saint John, N.B.; Stephanie Cox, Scotsburn; Gregory Gillis, Grand Anse; great-grandchildren, Gillis, Glen, Nathan, Daniel, and Jacob; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Allan; daughter, Ethel; sisters, Edith and Edna; brother, Charles.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and members of Dr. Gordon MacLeod Chapter 37 will be holding an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m., both in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stewart United Church, Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in East Lake Ainslie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck or Stewart UCW.
