O'LEARY, Willard Thomas "Bubby" - Peacefully and surrounded by his loving wife and family, Willard Thomas 0'Leary "Bubby" of Tickle, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital at the age of 77. Bubby was the son of the late Thomas and Viola (Jamieson) O'Leary of Queensport.
Bubby will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine "Cookie" (Feltmate); son, Patrick; daughters, Tena (Ron) Blackert, Sheri (Michael) Geddes, Crystal (Randy) Connolly, Marjorie, Melissa (Evan) Theriault. He was the best Graddy ever to Joshua, Matthew, Brendan, Jessica, Chantal, Arabella, Chelsea, Bailey, Melody, Andrew, Marissa, Blaine, Nikita, Cassie and Kaleb and the best Great Graddy to Jedidiah. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Kenny; sisters, Alice, Sandra, Margo, Winnie Ann, Doreen; as well as many other family members, friends and also the community. Bubby was predeceased by his son, Michael; his brother, Eldon; his sisters, Barb and Marlene.
Bubby made many sacrifices over the years to provide for his family. Throughout his life, Bubby enjoyed working various jobs within the fishing industry (the trawlers being one of his favourites), he also enjoyed his time as an equipment operator for a paving company, as well as many other jobs. The simpliest pleasures in life brought him much joy. He loved to sit on the lawn swing and have a good old conversation with whoever had ears, while watching their cat play or the birds in the feeders. Bubby loved to play Yahtzee (his rules only) or many other games with his kids and grandkids.
His hobbies kept him busy, you could find him either peeling wire for scrap or counting recyclable bottles. And sadly the Montreal Canadiens have lost their #1 Fan. Bubby could be heard yelling "SCORE" over the years while watching his favourite team play hockey. But we all know his greatest treasure was his wife and family. He was a wonderful role model, teaching us the important values and morals in life, while constantly showing us his courage, strength and love.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. A graveside burial will take place on Friday, August 19 at 2 p.m. in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso with Pastor John Jack officiating.
A special thank you to Dr. Milburn and the staff of the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Howard and Dr. Pereira and the staff at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, as well as the many family and friends who have shown us so much love during this time.
