Obituary
Please share a memory of Winfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we, the Nickerson family , announce the passing of Winfred 'Win' Fraser Nickerson, age 82 of Hazel Hill on August 19, 2022 in the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Tickle, he was the son of the late James Ruben and Lola (Carter) Nickerson.
Win had so much love for his family, wife, children and grandchildren. Not only a father, husband and grandfather but a best friend to ALL that had the privilege to have known him.
Win is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Deanna 'Dee' (MacMillan); sons, Stephen (Ingrid), Hazel Hill; Blair (Julie), Enfield; daugther, Marjorie (Joe), Canso; grandsons, Stephen W., Oliver, Brady; granddaughter, Shae; sister-in-law, Barb (Junior) Filiatrault, Lantz; along with many nieces, nephews, grat nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, James Bush, Douglas Bush, Jamie Nickerson, Thelma McAloon and Maude Lumsden.
From an early age Win had a very strong work ethic. He would walk to the family fields 'Old Fields' to spread the hay before school in the morning and the return in the afternoon to pile it before heading home for the night. He was employed at I.J. Whitman Store, Cardinal Protien, Lumsden Fuels delivering oil for 32 years and finally retired from his last role at Hillside Irving garage.
Many memories were shared with friends and family in the camp at Cooee Coffre, his favorite home away from home, which will be forever scribed in the many years of logbooks. He wouldn't miss a trip without making a log entry, even if he just went to check on things.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his Homecare Support team, the doctors and nurses that cared for him over these last two years.
Cremation has taken place, per Win's wishes there will be no visitation or service. A family graveside will take place at a future date when he will be laid to rest with his parents in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso. Donations in memory of Win may be made to a charity of one's choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
