Obituary
Please share a memory of Leona to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness and much love that we, the family, announce the passing of Leona Borden, age 68, as she went to her eternal home with the Lord, on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her husband, Norman, her daughter Marsha, her sons, Chris and Wayne. She was predeceased by her father, Stephen Wheeler, Marjorie Benoit and her brother Stanley Wheeler. She is survived by her sisters, Eileen (John), Linda (John and Philip), Doreen (Bob), Debbie (Willy); survived by her brothers; Joe (Jeannine), Herman (Olive), Nolen, Bernard (Caroline) and by her grandchildren.
Leona was very caring and loving and would remember family birthdays and special events that took place within the family and was always available for advice and support. Family members could always count on receiving birthday and anniversary cards from her.
One of Leona’s many talents was that of a great cook and wonderful baker. Whether it was a recipe she came across or one of her very own home-grown meals and desserts, she had a way of making food taste so delicious. Now she has the opportunity to be one of God’s great cooks in heaven’s kitchen.
We would like to thank Leona’s caregiver Tillie for her untiring and loving 24-hour care that she provided since May, 2022. She truly was a God send.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 28 Church Street, Mulgrave, NS, with Fr. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
