MUISE, Wayne – It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Muise announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, surrounded by close family in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 64. Wayne’s life may have been cut short, but he touched the hearts of many while he was with us.
Wayne was the son of the late Ernie Muise and Florence (Matthews-Muise) Ellis. Wayne grew up in Big Marsh surrounded by family and many good memories were made with grandparents (Russell and Maude Matthews) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Wayne worked away for many years in Alberta and Ontario in the oilfields and construction, but he was happiest when he moved back to Cape Breton where he met Florence, built a home and enjoyed 25 years together. Wayne started his own company, Digger Construction and was an honest and reliable entrepreneur in the surrounding areas where he completed many projects large and small.
Wayne had two sons, Nick and Johnny who he was very proud of and looked forward to their calls and visits hearing about their life and plans. Wayne spent many hours in the rinks all over the Maritimes watching his own sons and then his nephews play hockey. He was so proud of their accomplishments. He could be seen with a Tim Hortons coffee in hand standing by the glass watching them play.
Wayne spent many a winter hunting with his uncles Earl and Billy and loved his hunting dogs, especially Cabot. Wayne loved music but Country was his favorite. His talent, playing the guitar was obvious but mostly he loved being around his family when they played and sang.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Florence (Matheson); sons, Nicholas and Jonathan (Emily); brothers, Brian (Jo-ann) Ellis, Wendall (Wendy) Ellis; sister-in-law, Chris; nephews, Colton, Chase, Matthew, Kai, Jonah; niece, Haylee Dawn and his fur babies, Pumkin and Bella. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Stevie and mother of his children, Gail Muise.
There will be a Celebration of Life in the Blues Mills and Area Fire Hall on Monday, August 22 from 6-8 p.m. with a private family burial at a later date. Donations can be made to the Margaree Cat Rescue or a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
