Theresa was a remarkable woman in many ways: she raised her large family with energy, humor, wit and lots of love. Music was the constant accompaniment to family life and all of her children were given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Theresa and Joe were affectionate parents who guided their children with their good example and generous ways.
Theresa was a talented seamstress and quilter and spent many happy years in retirement in her sewing room creating beautiful quilts. She made many good friends when she taught night classes in sewing. Denied an extended formal education, she was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She greatly encouraged and assisted her children to receive post secondary education and excel in their chosen professions.
Her long life was one of devotion to family and friends.
Theresa received exceptional care, initially at Inverary Manor in Inverness, then for the last five years at Richmond Villa in St Peters. Staff members were unfailingly kind, professional and caring to her and to her family. Words cannot express her family’s gratitude. If anyone wishes to honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, a donation to Richmond Villa would be greatly appreciated.
She has been cremated. A wake will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury, NS from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Joby Augustin officiating. Her ashes will be interred alongside her husband Joe in St Joseph’s Cemetery following the funeral. There will be a luncheon to follow the burial at St. Joseph Church.
