Lion Janet - Just learned of your husband Sam's passing after reading the Herald this morning (Saturday Oct. 29th). I want to express my deepest condolences to you & the family on behalf of myself & the Antigonish Lions Club. May Sam after much suffering, due to his illness rest in everlasting peace.
I want to thank you & the Canso Lions Club for supporting the Antigonish Lions Club & the Antigonish Kinsmen Club in the purchase of a new Pursuit XL Mobility Scooter for Bill Ryan. I understand from Bill that is is a relative of yours Janet. Bill is getting along well with his new mode of transportation. Due to health reasons, he had to sell his vehicle last year & he really missed the opportunity to jump into his car & go. Bill spent over 10 years as a School Crossing Guard at the intersection of Braemore Ave. & Xavier Drive (near Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High) & knows everybody & everybody knows him.
I will try to get to Sam's wake tomorrow (Sunday) after our Lions Pancake Breakfast (9am until noon). I cannot go to the Funeral Mass because of a medical appointment at noon on Monday.

Sam I am honoured to call you extended family - the man who taught my baby girl to tie her shoes - who jumped from his work truck to pick her up off the road after a bicycle spill. The man who did his best to make Andrew laugh even on the rough days. You always knew how to make us smile and laugh even if we didn’t want too. Sam was a special guy, we shared many laughs during bonspiels, and we were almost always in the running for something, thanks to Sam's precision shooting! Janet, my dear friend, I know it's been a difficult several months for you and your family. At least now, there is no more suffering. You may have some peace now knowing this part of his journey is over. I know you all have many amazing memories of Sam. I know I do too! I'm so honored to have known him and curled with him.
