Obituary of Patricia Ann MacNeil
Patricia Ann “Patsy” MacNeil, 78, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Mom was born February 26, 1944, in MacIntyre Lake to the late Fred and Annabelle (Perrin) Burke. Patsy married Malcolm and the two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with 3 children: Freddie, Mary, and Stan.
Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals and hosting her family and friends, especially over the Holidays. For many years leading up to her passing she enjoyed reading, puzzle books, a friendly game of cards and Bingo with her friends but her greatest passion in life was family. Her grandsons looked forward to her weekly phone calls just to check in. She was the type of person who would always welcome you into her home for a chat and a cup of tea. As a devout Christian Patsy never wavered in her faith when faced with a terminal diagnosis. She would love to be remembered as a woman of joy, laughter and stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life.
Patsy is survived by her daughter Mary (Joe) MacDonnell, son Stan (Tracy) and daughter in law Wanda (late Freddie); five grandchildren, Chad (Candace), Jeremy, Jared (Allison), Keanan and Brady; two great grandchildren Freddie and Nellie; sister Catherine (late Jimmy) Cogswell and brother Jerry (Peggy) Burke along with many beloved nieces and nephews and special friend Julia.
She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm, her son Freddie, brothers Herman Burke and Dan Willie (Liz) MacDonald, special cousin/friend Louie Bissonnette and long-time friend Camilla MacDonald.
The family wish to Thank the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Team, Port Hawkesbury Continuing Care Nurses, her special neighbors who always stopped for a chat or provided a helping hand, and all those who have extended emotional support to Patsy and her family during her final days. Moms’ solution to every problem was, “Go to bed you fellas”.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Port Hawkesbury. Burial at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
