Obituary of James Arnold Desmond
DESMOND, James Arnold “Jack” – Age 71, Lincolnville, Guysborough Co. With much sadness we the family regret to announce the death of James Arnold Desmond which occurred on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Lincolnville, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Mary Agnes (MacLellan) Desmond. Jack’s true passion was being a community historian as well as an activist and environmentalist.
Surviving are his son, James Desmond, Windsor; brothers, Clifford, Lincolnville; Raymond, Winnipeg; Wilbert MacLellan, ON; sister, Sheila Pelly, Guysborough; as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was predeceased by his partner, Cindy Williams; sisters, Blanche Borden (Lincolnville), Mary MacLean (Glace Bay), Christine Lawrence (Boylston), Beatrice in infancy.
The family would like to express they’re thanks to the Palliative Care Team of Guysborough Memorial Hospital for all they done and provided to Jack during his illness.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Tracadie and from where funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John Barry officiating. Burial will follow in St. Monica’s Parish Cemetery, Lincolnville. Memorial donations may be made to St. Monica’s Chapel, Lincolnville.
