You were at first my friend’s dad and as years went by it was oh look at that he refs soccer. Move on to junior high, you became my teacher then my soccer coach. After that, I believe beforehand and for the rest of our lives you were my friend. Thank you Wayne for being a mentor, teacher, coach and friend. You made a positive impact on so many. You will be missed. God Bless you and Rest Easy my friend.
If I may tell a story. Wayne taught me in grade 8 and that’s when our friendship would begin. I always had a joke. He loved them and I would always tell him one every once in a while. Once I hit Highschool at Saerc we had our free class. Well, during that class I would make a point to knock on “ Mr. Hughes” door while he was teaching a class. And why? To tell him a joke, of course. He would come out into the hallway, close the door and if it was acceptable to tell the class, after he stopped laughing, he would get me to tell his class. That’s just the person he was. We did that faithfully while I was in Highschool. Just one great memory of a great fella.
