Obituary of Catherine Gertrude Jamieson
JAMIESON, Catherine Gertrude “Kaye’ – Age 79, Queensport, Guysborough Co., passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso with her family by her side. Born in Guysborough she was a daughter of the late Frank Lawrence and Ruby Catherine (O’Leary) Carter.
Kaye’s friendly smile touched so much of her community, especially when you were in her “lane” checking out at SaveEasy in Guysborough, where she worked so many years. As a friend, she always provided a listening ear and shared laughs playing cards, crib or bingo. In her community, she was a mother to many, spending countless hours at the beach teaching them to fish and swim while they enjoyed her many “snacks”. As a grandmother, Kaye loved to hear their stories and laugh with them. As a mother, she was so proud of what her children accomplished. As a loving wife, she shared her smile and laughs with Doug for over 50 years. Kaye leaves a lasting smile with all of us.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheila (Michel) Bilodeau, Oakland, ON; sons, Paul (Cecilia) Jamieson, Queensport; Craig (Krista), Guysborough; brothers, Fred (Mary) Carter, Halifax; Donald (Sheila) Carter, Canso; grandchildren, Carter, Rhiane, Mathieu, Nadine; adopted granddaughter, Mallory Borden (great-granddaughter, Everly); sister-in-law, Mary Anne Carter; several nieces and nephews and special family daughter, Darlene Jamieson. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug; brother, Wayne Carter.
Special thanks to the Homecare staff, the staff of Eastern Memorial Hospital and Dr. Milburn for their kindness to mom and family during her stay.
